October 1 will see the launch of the Forever Floatride GROW ($120), Reebok’s new plant-based sneaker.
It makes use of a eucalyptus tree based upper and an algae-based BLOOM sockliner. This setup sits atop a midsole made from castor beans and a outsole composed from rubber trees.
“Forever Floatride GROW is made for runners who care about performance and want to feel good about the products they use daily. This shoe is the result of a long journey to create a plant-based running shoe that looks and performs like other best-in-class footwear and can withstand running a marathon. It’s an important milestone for sustainable performance as making running shoes out of plants is challenging because they need to withstand impact.”

The first 50 purchasers of the Forever Floatride GROW, through the brand’s UNLOCKED loyalty program, will receive a community supported agriculture (CSA) box filled with a half bushel of a variety of fresh vegetables.
For every box sent out to a customer, Reebok and Siena farms will donate a produce box to people in need.
This is not Reebok’s first foray into sustainable footwear. In 2017 the brand birthed a shoe made from corn and cotton.
